I was backpacking alone along a ridge in Big Sur in the late afternoon. The sun was setting over the Pacific in the West and the full moon rising in the East. I sat my pack down to make camp for the night and take some pictures when this majestic cat walked out from behind some bushes about 20 yards away. We saw each other and both froze. We both squatted down and sat and stared at each other like this for about 5 minutes. So intense. So magical.
