Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal
The Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal's design is among the most dramatic examples of Gothic Revival architectural style in the world; its ceiling is colored deep blue and decorated with golden stars, and the rest of the sanctuary is a polychrome of blues, azures, reds, purples, silver, and gold. It is filled with hundreds of intricate wooden carvings and several religious statues. The stained glass windows along the walls of the sanctuary depict scenes from the religious history of Montreal. When we visited at Christmas-time the decorations included life-sized nativity scene statues.
